Maria and Alvaro are Engaged
On Sunday, September 11th, I took a drive up to Florence, Alabama to photograph the engagement session for Maria and Alvaro, two clients who will be getting married in November. It was a gorgeous late summer/early fall afternoon, and the settings the two selected only enhanced the shoot.
The first set of photos were taken on the old railroad bridge that connects the town of Sheffield to the town of Florence. With the water on both sides, the setting allowed for a good use of the architecture in addition to the natural lighting that was out at around 5:30 in the evening.
Afterwards, we went over to a nearby park area where Maria and Alvaro set up for a vintage style picnic shoot. The couple brought some props with them, including an old Chevrolet pick-up truck that, well, would prove to be an interesting addition to the shoot by the end of things.
As we moved the truck to put it into position for the shoot, it stalled out and wouldn’t crank anymore. After repeated efforts, the truck looked as if it wasn’t going anywhere. Luckily, though, a couple of the park visitors helped us push it into a parking spot and out of the entry way for the walking trail nearby. Maria and Alvaro, though, had a great sense of humor about things and decided to incorporate their feelings about the situation into a couple of the photos at the end of the shoot.
Even with the automobile issues and suddenly coming down with an ear infection on the ride back from Florence to Tuscaloosa, the shoot was a fun one to do. Maria and Alvaro are a great couple to work with, and I am looking forward to heading back up to Florence in November for their wedding.
