From The Vault – Lee Bains III and The Glory Fires: 11/05/10

Last week I received an email from a good friend, Mr. Lee Bains III of Lee Bains III and The Glory Fires.  He was requesting a couple of photos to send to a magazine to help promote the release of his new album, “There is a Bomb in Gilead”, which is released on May 15th.  I was happy to oblige Lee’s request, and then I thought the photos would make a great “From the Vault” entry.  I sent him a couple from the Glory Fires’ show held at Egans on Friday, November 5th, 2010.  Even though the show was held the night before the University of Alabama suffered a loss against LSU in Baton Rouge, everyone’s mind was on the performance by Lee and the rest of The Glory Fires.

The Glory Fires can trace their history and influences back through such bands as The Dexateens, Model Citizen, The Black Willis Band Arkadelphia, and as a result, playing in a place like Egan’s in Tuscaloosa is a perfect setting for them.  The band unleashes a visceral and unrelenting musical assault on the audience in the best way possible.  The show that night back in 2010 was no different as the crowd was front and center for the entire show.

Thanks to their hard work, great live shows, and a recent spot touring with The Alabama Shakes, the band is generating a lot of traction not only locally in the south but throughout the country.  The release of their new album should continue to build on the momentum of what has been a great 2012 for the band.  If you can’t get a chance to see them live, visit their website at http://www.thegloryfires.com and their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/thegloryfires/
