Andrew and John: 6/03/12

A lot of people would think a person is crazy if they are happy to wake up really early on a nice Sunday morning.  Most would say, “You should sleep in and not be rushed to start the day”.  I normally would agree, unless I have a job to do, such as a portrait session, on that particular Sunday.  I had such a job on Sunday, June 3rd and couldn’t wait to get things started.  The session was with John and Andrew, sons of a friend of mine and nephews of another friend of mine.  We decided to start things at Capitol Park in Tuscaloosa.  For those not from Tuscaloosa, Capitol Park is the home of the ruins of the old Alabama State Capitol building when it was located in the city.  The area is filled with old and picturesque brick work and columns, thus allowing for some great settings to do portraits.

I’ve shot multiple sessions at Capitol Park, but I do always enjoy coming back.  I like to see my portrait subjects, especially children, discover the park in new ways, play around the ruins, and provide great material for the sessions.  Andrew and John were great kids to work with on that day, and it made things go by very smoothly.  Once we finished at Capitol Park, we decided to head down the road a bit to the Park at Manderson Landing, which is located on the banks of the Black Warrior River, to finish the session.

All in all, it turned out to be a fantastic session to start off a Sunday morning.  If you’d like to see more from this shoot, I invite you to check out the full display gallery at http://www.dsmithimages.com/site/portraits/andrew-and-john-6-3-12/1/.  Please remember to get in touch if you are in need of a portrait session.  I’m available to travel all over the state of Alabama, and I offer many great portrait packages and specials.

Enjoy!
