Ashley and Maurice are Married: 7/21/12
Being a wedding photographer allows me to shoot in a variety of different locations. After a while, though, things all tend to look the same, especially if you work in a certain geographic area. For example, I’ve worked numerous weddings in the Birmingham, Alabama area, which is where my latest wedding, the union of Ashley and Maurice, happened on July 21st, 2012. What made this wedding different, though, is the perspective at which I was able to see Birmingham. I got to shoot the wedding from 31 stories above the city as the ceremony and reception were both held at The Summit Club. It was my first time working at The Summit Club, and I couldn’t have asked for a better venue. The staff were all extremely helpful and professional not only to the bride and groom, but myself and the other vendors as well.
The venue was the perfect setting for Ashley and Maurice’s wedding as a good number of friends and family gathered to either be a part of the actual ceremony or witness the festivities from the crowd. The young couple gave off a great poise throughout the day that translated well as the party went into the late hours of the evening. Even with things started to look like they might get hectic, they didn’t allow the stress of the day to overwhelm them. After all, it was their day to enjoy. The ceremony went off without a major hitch, and thus Ashley and Maurice became man and wife.
With the “I Do’s said”, it was time to enjoy the rest of the evening. I don’t usually show off the formal photos, unless there is a good reason. I figured that a sunset over downtown Birmingham from the perspective of 31 stories in the air is a good enough reason. The cloud cover present only added to the dynamic, and it gave Ashley and Maurice some incredible post wedding shots.
Once we got through the formals, it was time to party and enjoy the reception. Ashley and Maurice had their first dance, cut their cake, and then went into a very nice sit down dinner before enjoying the rest of the evening on the dance floor to the tunes the DJ provided. It was a great way to cap off the evening for everyone involved.
All in all, it was a fantastic day, and I was fortunate to be able to photograph it. I got to know Ashley and Maurice through Ashley’s mother, who happens to work for Crowns of Bella, a wedding and formal dress shop, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I’d like to thank all of the ladies at the store for supporting DSmithImages, and I encourage you all to visit and use them for your dress needs. I also highly recommend using The Summit Club if you are in search of a great wedding venue. Last but not least, don’t forget DSmithImages if you or someone you know is in need of a wedding photographer! Now, if you want to see the rest of the photos from this wedding, I invite you to check out the display gallery at http://www.dsmithimages.com/site/weddings/ashley-and-maurice-are-married-7-21-12/1/

Enjoy!
